Application The CHF Organic Vegetarian Coarse Layer is designed solely for laying birds in the backyard environment and offers the complete daily requirement of cereals needed for healthy laying hens. Incorporated into the wholegrain blend is a “protein pellet” which contains essential vitamins and minerals, vegetable protein meals and trace minerals. This ensures the integrity of the feed is maintained and avoids the separation issues that can occur if adding these ingredients individually.
Direction When raising young chicks, the CHF Organic Vegetarian Coarse Layer is best fed once they have reached the point of lay (approximately 18–20 weeks). Blending with the CHF Chicken Starter Grower from 16 weeks is advisable to assist with the transition to the new feed.
Typical feed consumption is 100g–130g per bird per day, and feed is best made accessible through a specially designed self-feeder. To minimize wastage, ensure your feeder is elevated — high enough so the birds cannot scratch feed onto the ground, yet low enough for them to eat comfortably. Always ensure birds have access to plenty of clean, potable drinking water.
