Family Heritage
In 1998, fresh out of university, Katrina Hobbs returned home to work alongside her father, Andrew Youngberry, as his assistant. One day, Andrew set out to buy more grain storage for his ostrich farm but came back with an entire old feed mill! Without hesitation, he handed Katrina her first challenge: turn it into a business.
Determined to make it work, Katrina quickly realized she needed a niche to set her feed mill apart. Her passion for sustainable, natural farming led her to a bold idea—organic stockfeed, something no one else in Australia was doing at the time. She believed in getting back to the way farming was meant to be—Good, Simple, Organic. With that vision, she established Australia’s first certified organic stockfeed mill.
Together with her husband, Adrian, and her parents, Andrew and Jennifer, Katrina built Country Heritage Feeds from the ground up. As demand for organic, nutritionally balanced feed grew, so did the business.
Now, the third generation is taking the reins. Brenton, Katrina and Adrian’s son, works alongside his parents, managing the feed milling operations and bringing new ideas to help drive the business forward. With a fresh perspective and a commitment to innovation, Brenton is helping to expand production, refine nutrition, and keep the business growing in exciting new directions.
Emily, Brenton’s older sister, works in marketing and is passionate about branding and imagery, Emily helps bring the company’s story to life through compelling visuals and creative content.
Meanwhile, Corinne, the middle child, has stepped into the role of Katrina’s assistant, contributing fresh ideas as she transitions from school to the family business—who knows, maybe a new business venture is in the works?
Even though Renee and Reuben are still at school, they’re already contributing new ideas and fresh perspectives, shaping the future of the family business in their own way.
With the next generation involved, Country Heritage Feeds continues to evolve, but the core values of sustainability, quality, and organic farming remain as strong as ever—setting the stage for a bright future ahead.
